On behalf of the governing body of the Penk Valley Federation of Schools I am delighted to announce our intention to convert all five of our schools to academy status under the auspices of the Penk Valley Academy Trust. Feedback from the community to our summer stakeholder consultation was overwhelmingly positive. People recognise that our schools are very good schools, that are well led and through Visible Learning, offer a truly exciting and successful approach to teaching and learning. Principally there are three main reasons why we have made this decision now: We are choosing to become a multi-academy trust on the terms and to a timescale that suits us; allowing us the independence to make decisions that are right for our children and young people rather than for someone else. Sixth Form students at Wolgarston High School in Penkridge are celebrating their success today with a top-drawer set of results both at A Level and BTEC. This means that once again Wolgarston is looking forward to taking its place at the top table of sixth form providers when the national league tables are published later in the year. Wolgarston Year 13 Celebration Day

Yesterday was Celebration Day at Wolgarston for Year 13 students and their parents and valued others. Governors, staff, parents and grand parents joined together to celebrate the achievements of our Year 13 students as they prepare to leave the Wolgarston fold for pastures new. Head of Sixth Form, Mr Simmonds, took the role of MC in an enjoyable ceremony held to present subject awards and special awards for students. The proceedings started with Molly Stanfield playing I Giorno by Ludvico Einaudi on Piano and Dan Beales, Head Boy, brought the proceedings to a close with a solo performance of Classical Gas by Mason Williams on acoustic guitar. Following the ceremony, as the party moved to the school lawns, students were presented with a group photograph as a souvenir and a sumptuous buffet was enjoyed by all. This is the 8th year we have held this very enjoyable Wolgarston afternoon and this is now the traditional close to a student’s life at Wolgarston High School.   We wish all…

Innovative school leader appointed as Headteacher of Penkridge Middle School

Penkridge Middle School has appointed Mrs Natalie Frost to be its new Headteacher. Mrs Frost, who has been Acting Headteacher for the past 12 months, was today appointed by Governors to lead the school on a permanent basis. The school is member of The Penk Valley Federation of Schools – a group of schools in South Staffordshire committed to offering educational excellence for pupils aged 2-19. It is Mrs Frost’s absolute commitment to ensure that children are given the very best educational opportunities, not just whilst at Penkridge Middle School, but throughout their learning journey which made her the perfect candidate to take on the role. Penkridge Middle School are celebrating a fantastic Ofsted report in which all aspects of the school were judged to be ‘Good’ with the subgroup of ‘personal development and welfare’ being classed as ‘Outstanding.’ Only days after appointing Natalie Frost, who had been Acting Head Teacher for the past twelve months, to the permanent role of Head Teacher, the school was visited on Tuesday 28th February and Wednesday 1st March by a team of inspectors from Ofsted. The inspectors thoroughly examined all aspects of the school, from behaviour and safeguarding to academic progression and quality of teaching. They observed lessons, met with governors and the leadership team and heard the views of students and parents, in order to make their decision about the quality of the whole school.
